Students enrolled in WWYC, explore careers in early childhood education & growth & development of children birth to age 5. The course provides experiences and coursework covering components of a quality early childhood environment, planning & leading developmentally appropriate learning activities, qualities of successful caregivers, and ways to promote social and emotional well being in young children. Careers in an early childhood setting are explored.
Students work weekly in our onsite NM Pre-K program under the direction of early childhood teacher, Brittany Gabaldon & Miss Kami, educational assistant. Over the course of the year students gain experience in planning & teaching developmentally appropriate learning experiences, providing child guidance, and applying concepts learned in class to a real world setting providing students with relevant learning experiences!
